Everything You Should Know About Umoyo’s Pink Himalayan Salt.

Umoyo’s Pink Himalayan Salt is extracted from ancient salt mines in the Himalayan Mountains in South Asia. The salt is believed to have been formed millions of years ago from the evaporation of ancient bodies of water. The salt is hand extracted and minimally processed to yield an unrefined product that is free of additives, unlike most table salt that goes through several synthetic processes, such as bleaching to make it white and the addition of anti-clumping chemical agents. 


It is the natural harvesting process of Himalayan Salt that allows it to retain all its natural properties. Indeed it is estimated that it contains 84 different minerals and trace elements that are beneficial to our health. In fact, it is these very minerals, especially Iron, that gives it it’s characteristic pink colour. 

Compare this to regular table salt, where the synthetic processes strip out all other essential minerals and natural properties, while concentrating Sodium Chloride. 

As such, Himalayan Salt is considered a more natural and healthier alternative to regular table salt. You can use it in your cooking as well as to add extra flavour at the table.
